Call for applications for Total Allowable Fishing Committee now open
Background
The Total Allowable Fishing (TAF) Committee is a statutory body established under the provisions of the Fisheries Management Act 1994 (the Act). It is required to determine and keep under review total allowable catch and total allowable effort levels, including where directed by the Minister. It gives effect to the objects of the Act having regard to all relevant scientific, industry, community, social and economic factors
Expressions of interest are sought to fill the following four positions on the Total Allowable Fishing (TAF) Committee:
- Independent Chairperson
- Natural resource economist
- Fishery scientist
- Person with appropriate fisheries management qualifications.
Members will receive sitting fees and travel expenses.
The term of the successful applicants will be for a period of up to three years with possible renewal.
