Public consultation on draft NSW Snapper and Yellowtail Kingfish Harvest Strategies now open
Harvest strategies are a best-practice way to manage fisheries. They provide a clear plan for balancing environmental, economic, social and Aboriginal cultural interests while helping to keep fish stocks healthy for future generations.
Public consultation on the draft NSW Snapper Harvest Strategy (PDF, 793.08 KB) and draft NSW Yellowtail Kingfish Harvest Strategy (PDF, 819.17 KB) are now open until 15 February 2027. We invite you to provide your feedback through the Have Your Say website at the following links:

Your input will help inform the sustainable management of Snapper and Yellowtail Kingfish in NSW.
Following public consultation, the NSW Line and Trap Harvest Strategy Working Group and the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development will use the feedback to review the draft strategy before it progresses through final approval processes.
Public consultation will close on 15 February 2027.
Submissions are public information
To improve transparency of policy decisions, we intend to make all submissions publicly available on our website. Withholding any information is at our discretion.
If you believe there are grounds to withhold specific information in your submission you must advise the department. Reasons may include that information is commercially sensitive or personal. You should advise the department if your reasons relate to the whole submission or only parts of it.
Note that people can ask for copies of submissions (and any other information held by the department) under the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 (GIPA Act). The GIPA Act encourages information to be made publicly available, unless there is an overriding public interest against disclosure.
