NSW launches vaccination program for endangered birds

The NSW Government has commenced a rollout of targeted vaccinations for vulnerable species of birds to help protect them against H5 avian influenza (bird flu).

Minister for Agriculture Tara Moriarty today visited the State Coordination Centre (SCC) at the
Orange Agricultural Institute where experts from across government are leading the NSW
Government’s response to H5 bird flu.

Recreational fishers can once again take native Australian Bass and Estuary Perch in NSW waters following the end of the three-month spawning closure.
