Production data


Each financial year, NSW aquaculture permit holders are required to provide their production data. Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) use the data to develop annual production reports, which are published below. The production data is used to track the growth of the various sectors within the NSW aquaculture industry.

In 2024-25, total NSW aquaculture production was valued at $107.2 million. The oyster industry was the main contributor of this production with a value of $76.4 million.

Production returns for 2025-26

Aquaculture production returns for 2025-26 are now available for completion.

Your production return must be submitted by 30 September 2026. Information on how to submit your production return can be found here.

Production reports

Annual production reports contain detailed data on aquaculture production within NSW.  There is a production report for each year, going back as far as 1999-2000.
