Rainfall Totals

Widespread rainfall across NSW in March.

  • The highest totals were recorded along the southern coastal regions, central tablelands, alpine areas and far western NSW.
  • Limited falls (0-25mm) were recorded in parts of the North-West, Northern Tablelands, Hunter and Central West.

Rainfall for 2026 has been highest in coastal areas and parts of far western NSW.

  • These higher rainfall totals have been largely driving by follow-up rainfall events in March.

Rainfall Percentiles

March rainfall was in the highest percentile ranking (above 90%) for much of far west NSW.

  • Widespread rainfall deficits continue across large areas of north eastern NSW.

Rainfall percentiles have been variable in 2026.

  • Widespread rainfall deficits observed across large areas of northern NSW
  • In the far west rainfall has been very high compared to the historical record, at percentile 80-100.

Rainfall percentiles are compared to the 1981-2020 baseline record.
